The wave in the video looks perfect for beginner and/or kids! I’d like to introduce my daughters to the sport one day in a place like that.

Kook or kool? Heh. It just got my interes cause our waves (that we rarely have) are really “mushy” and this invention could help to get just a bit more riding time/generally make the whole experience slightly better…

Cops are all over the place on the beaches here, and in some areas that’s a good thing. They also banned drinking on the beach, now nudity I hate to be biased, but there’s just not enough women naked for me not to be disturbed by old naked surfing men.

Don’t law enforcement officers have something better to do with their time? I mean seriously…

If you don’t like Old Man’s because of the nudity you should (I my opinion) chill out, or if that doesn’t work simply visit another beach.

I have to give a shout out to Bolsa Chica up in Orange County, CA… another great place for beginners - beach break with a sandy bottom and lots of white water to learn on.

Great article. I have friends in both San Francisco and San Diego - should visit the beaches some day!
I went to surfing for first time in Playa Tamarindo, Costa Rica - the waves looked pretty similar there. The place is said to be (also) one of the best locations for beginner surfers!
